I am under the doctor and on medication for a chronic illness. Is this a safe thing to do?
I always recommend that you speak to your GP or Health Professional before embarking on any significant lifestyle changes. I do not diagnose nor will I ever advise you on your current condition or chosen treatment route. My intention is to work alongside your GP, Nutritionist or other health professional, supporting you on your journey to improved health and wellbeing regardless of your choices.
I’m a fussy eater and don’t particularly like exercise. Can you really help me?
I believe there’s a solution for every obstacle or challenge and will help you to find food and/or exercise that you really enjoy.
I have a family and busy schedule. How will I find the time to work on myself?
I have many years of experience helping busy people to reach their goals, no matter what their circumstances, and I totally understand the pressures of life. I will help you find what works best for you so that your journey is a pleasure and that you are not under any extra pressure or stress.
I could never give up meat or my favourite take-aways!
I work with clients who enjoy meat, fish, eggs and dairy products and I respect their choices. I do, however, help them to choose the healthiest of these animal foods and I introduce them to delicious plant-based recipes that can be used in place of meat, fish or dairy. I encourage my clients to eat more fruits, vegetables, wholegrains, pulses, nuts and seeds and therefore slowly crowd out some of the animal products in their diet in order for them to achieve optimum health.
I have depression, addictions and/or mood swings. Am I a good candidate for coaching?
Every person is different and you and I would have a chat before entering into our coaching partnership to see whether this will be a good fit for you. You might do better by trying some other kind of professional help at this time. If we do decide to work together it is very likely that you will feel better by making changes in your diet, exercise, self-care practices and mindset. So, do please get in touch to see if this will work for you.
It seems like a lot of money! Is it worth it?
When you view coaching as an investment in yourself that will bring rewards now and well into the future, giving you the life you truly wish in a body that feels good, with a positive mindset, I would say ‘Yes! it’s definitely worth it!’ Think about all the things we spend money on that only have short term effects… a meal or evening out, a holiday, a new outfit or hairdo. These things make us feel good but don’t last all that long. How much do your value your health and wellbeing? How will your life look if you have fantastic health that allows you to do all the things you want to do later in life? However, results are dependent on you and the work you put in. I will encourage, guide and support you all the way but ultimately, it’s you that makes the changes and reaps the rewards.
I’m not a fan of cooking! In fact, I don’t really know how to cook or where to shop for the best food.
Often, we don’t cook because we don’t know how to or have got into the habit of ordering ready meals, eating out, ordering takeaway food or letting our partner do the cooking. When we learn a new skill, like cooking, and with enough practice, we gradually become more confident and start to feel proud of what we have achieved. As you start to see and feel the health benefits from enjoying your own delicious creations you will likely be less inclined to eat unhealthy ready-made meals or takeaways. I will help you to start where you are right now. If required, I can offer help with meal planning, shopping, food storage, preparation and cooking.
How can you convince me that my investment in coaching will bring me the results I’m after?
I can’t make any guarantees that you will get the results you are looking for. As your coach I will show up for you 100% and will help you to look at the achievement of your goals from all angles. We will try new things and if they don’t work, we will try something else. And we will keep going until you see results. The most important thing to understand is that I don’t get you the results. YOU get the results for yourself by putting in the agreed actions that come out of each coaching session. So, your commitment to your goals is paramount to receiving a return on your investment and you will have my full support.
What do you mean by ‘Natural Health’?
I believe that health is our natural state and that we do best when we align with the natural world. Human beings were designed to be in natural daylight, breathing fresh air, eating fresh, unadulterated foods, moving the body, observing natural sleep patterns, connecting with and loving others and ourselves. In our developed world we have come so far away from the natural world by such things as working indoors under artificial lighting, eating toxic foods and being exposed to harmful chemicals and too many EMFs (electromagnetic frequencies). We experience higher levels of stress, are having less day-to-day human contact, laughter and joy. We may very well find the answers to our problems by respecting the nature of our being, slowing down and focusing on what’s most important to us instead of getting caught up in today’s fast paced and often disconnected way of living.
What’s the difference between a nutritionist and a nutrition coach?
A nutritionist is a qualified professional who will work with you to boost your nutrition to support your health and wellbeing. They will usually run tests to see if you have any nutritional deficiencies, issues with cholesterol, blood sugar levels, liver function, hormone levels, heavy metal toxicity, gut issues, food intolerances and more. They will then recommend an eating plan and supplementation programme and will continue to see you over a period of time until these issues have been resolved.
A nutrition coach will sometimes recommend that you consult with a nutritionist, to have the relevant tests done. They then will work alongside your nutritionist to help you achieve your dietary requirements through nutritious foods. A nutrition coach can help you with recipes, meal planning and getting organised in the kitchen. They can also help you to organise a juice detox/cleanse programme. A nutrition coach can also help you to explore unhealthy eating habits and look at any triggers that might be causing ‘emotional eating’ patterns.
Healthy food is so expensive!
It needn’t be! I can help you to shop for affordable quality foods that are local and in season. I can help you with bulk buying and batch cooking sessions. I can teach you how to best store and easily preserve foods so that nothing needs to be wasted. Also, when you eat a highly nutritious diet, and your body is getting all the nutrients it needs, you will likely feel less hungry and may well be satisfied with smaller portions. Quality over quantity!
